Executive Pastor Role Summary

The Executive Pastor is a pastoral minister who partners closely with the Lead Pastor to carry out the vision and mission of New Hope Baptist Church. This role is first and foremost ministerial in nature and requires a pastor who is biblically grounded, theologically trained, and spiritually mature. The Executive Pastor is qualified and expected to fulfill any ministerial responsibility typically performed by the Lead Pastor when needed, while ordinarily focusing on organizational leadership, staff oversight, and the faithful execution of ministry vision.


Reporting relationship:

The Executive Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor and serves under his leadership and authority, in alignment with the Church Constitution and Bylaws.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pastoral Ministry & Spiritual Leadership

• Preach and teach biblically faithful sermons and lessons regularly and as needed.

• Provide pastoral care, counseling, and shepherding to church members and attenders.

• Assist in leading and coordinating the observance of church ordinances.

• Conduct weddings, funerals, and other pastoral services when the Lead Pastor is unavailable.

• Serve as a spiritual leader and example to the congregation, staff, and volunteers.

• Represent the church in the community in a pastoral and missional capacity.



2. Leadership, Discipleship, & Outreach

• Provide leadership in the development and oversight of discipleship pathways, including Life Groups.

• Equip, train, and mentor deacons, ministry leaders, and key lay leaders for effective service.

• Lead and support evangelism and outreach initiatives in alignment with the church’s mission.

• Support and encourage the spiritual growth of staff and volunteers through intentional leadership.


3. Organizational Leadership & Operations

• Provide pastoral leadership over the day-to-day operations of the church.

• Supervise ministry staff, fostering both spiritual and professional development.

• Ensure implementation of church policies and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Coordinate ministry efforts across departments to ensure alignment with church vision.


4. Financial Leadership & Stewardship

• Provide staff leadership in the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the church budget.

• Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Finance Committee.

• Oversee church expenditures to ensure compliance with the approved budget and established financial policies.

• Promote faithful stewardship, transparency, and accountability in the use of church resources.


5. Special Events & Ministry Support

• Plan and oversee ministry events, service projects, and special initiatives as assigned.

• Support church-wide efforts that foster spiritual growth, unity, and community engagement.

Qualifications & Requirements

Ministerial Qualifications

• Ordained, licensed, or commissioned for gospel ministry, or actively pursuing such recognition.

• Demonstrated pastoral experience with responsibility in preaching, teaching, shepherding, and leadership.

• Proven ability to lead both staff and volunteers with spiritual maturity and wisdom.

• Clear testimony of salvation and calling to pastoral ministry. Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in theology, divinity, or a closely related field required.

• Master’s degree in divinity or theology preferred.

• Minimum of five years of experience in pastoral ministry or church leadership.

• Experience in church administration, staff supervision, and ministry operations preferred. Personal & Professional Expectations

• Be or become a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

• Demonstrate loyalty to the church, its leadership, and its mission.

• Faithfully support the ministry of the church through tithes and offerings.

• Maintain a disciplined spiritual life marked by prayer, study of Scripture, and personal growth.

• Exhibit a Christ-like, approachable, and servant-hearted attitude.


Other

• Adhere to the Church Constitution and Bylaws, employee handbook, and operations manual.

• Serve as an ex-officio member of church committees as appropriate.

• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the ministry and mission of New Hope Baptist Church.

Meeting at 9 & 11:30 a.m. on Sundays.
